Creating a Custom Link from ProQuest to Your OPAC
You can create a custom, predefined link for collections you subscribe
to such as OPAC. This lets you use the power of the flexible metadata
information in CrossLinks, and apply the links to multiple titles quickly
and easily. To create a custom link, follow these steps:
- Go to your Use your Local
Administrator account and log in.
- Click on Library Holdings. You see the Library Holdings page.
- Click Add new customer defined link.
You see the Create URL page.
- Enter the URL to the resource in the URL field. This must be
a fully qualified URL, starting with http:// (or https://).
- Enter the Administrator Label. This is the text that appears
on the Library Holdings File - Maintenance page.
- Enter the Customer Label. This is the text that the end user
will see in the interface.
- If you want to link to an icon for the collection, enter the URL in
the Icon URL field. (Your icon must measure 20 by 88 pixels.)
- If necessary, add any variables required to the URL by clicking on
the correct variable button and typing the values. This information
should be provided by the linking partner.
Note: When you click the buttons to add a variable, this information
is added at the end of the URL not where you place the cursor.
Note: Use ISSN if your system uses ISSN codes in the 8 digit
numeric format (no hyphen). Use ISSNH if your system uses ISSN codes
in the 4-4 format (with a hyphen).
- Click Apply Changes to apply the changes and return to the
Library Holdings File-Maintenance page.
Or, click Reset to clear the form and start over.
Or, click Delete to remove this link information from the database.
You return to the Library Holdings File - Maintenance page with the
new link listed in the Electronic Resources - Customer Defined area.
You can now apply the new link to a single title, or all your resources.
Note: You cannot remove a link definition from the Customer Defined
links. If you need to delete a link, contact ProQuest Customer Services.
